Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk Product Description

Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk is a nutritionally complete, whey-dominant first infant milk for use in combination feeding or if a baby is not being breastfed. As well as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals, it contains our patented blend of galacto- and fructo-oligosaccharides (GOS/FOS), which emulates the effect of the prebiotic oligosaccharides found naturally in breastmilk.

Why Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk?

Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk contains GOS/FOS, non-digestible carbohydrates that occur naturally in breastmilk. They decrease the presence of pathogens in the gut flora increasing the growth of friendly bacteria such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. These friendly bacteria are an integral part of a baby’s natural immune system.
Aptamil First Infant Milk is enriched with LCPs, including DHA (Omega 3), at levels that are scientifically recognised by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to support normal visual development and with a ratio of AA:DHA that meets consensus recommendations.
It also contains nucleotides, which form the building blocks of every cell in the body, including those of the immune system.

Importance of GOS/FOS

Our patented blend of galacto- and fructo- oligosaccharides (GOS/FOS) emulates the effect of the prebiotic oligosaccharides (OS) found naturally in breastmilk. They feed the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut at the expense of potentially harmful bacteria, bringing the internal microflora closer to that of a breastfed infant.

Bottle-fed babies given formula containing GOS/FOS have softer stools and a lower incidence of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections, diarrhoea, infections requiring antibiotics and atopic dermatitis, than those fed a formula without GOS/FOS. These benefits have been shown to last for up to 5 years.

How to prepare Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk

This is general guidance on the safe preparation of the powdered formula (Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk), but please see the product packaging for further information. Because powdered milks are not sterile, failure to follow the instructions may make babies ill.

Important instructions for Aptamil 1 First Infant Milk

  • For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds and discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible, always within 2 hoursDo not heat in a microwave, as hot spots may occur and cause scalding

  • Never leave babies alone during feeding

STEP 1. Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers’ instructions.

STEP 2. Boil 1 litre of fresh water. Leave kettle to cool for 30 minutes and no longer. Measure the required amount of water (refer to feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.

STEP 3. Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built in leveller. Do not press/heap the powder.
